ITS 60 INCHES WIDE, empty of info and it hangs on your wall like a blank tapestry. The flat panel display screen delivers a truly panoramic experience when your high definition television is on. The expanse of pixels is great for DVDs, for watching football, pageants and war scenes.But when the TV is off, the screen is taking up space that used to be filled with pictures and photographs. Now you can keep the screen and still have the portraits, still lifes and photographs with a device engineered by Roku Labs of Palo Alto. 
Entertainment Editors SUNNYVALE, Calif.–(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)–March 21, 2000 Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq:MVSN) announced today that NCP Marketing Group, a leader in direct response television marketing, has renewed its agreement to copy protect its videocassettes and DVDs.

From SAN FRANCISCO — Lawyers for seven of the major Hollywood movie studios went to the federal court on Thursday to argue that a companys software used by consumers to copy DVDs violates federal law.

Chesterfield, Mo.-based 321 Studios has already sold about a half-million copies of its software titles that allow the user to make backup copies of DVD movies to blank DVDs or CDs. The company also has offices in Berkeley. And Hollywood alleges the companys software functions in such a way that is prohibited by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, signed into law by Hollywood-friendly former President Bill Clinton.
