Like most Windows users, you might have problems with your computer going very slow. No matter how many times you reboot it, that doesn't help. It is dead slow and you are so sick of it you want a new computer but you can fix a slow computer.

Do multiple people use the same computer? It is used for online gaming, or just online? If so, chances are high that not only a bunch of useless software is installed, but you could be a victim of spyware, adware, useless cookies, and even viruses.

But don't all viruses hurt your computer? No! Some of them are actually designed to just be very annoying, not cause damage. For example, worms usually don't hurt anything, but they replicate themselves and spread.

So how do you deal with all of this? There are several steps you can take without buying a new computer.

#1 Ensure your virus scanner is up to date and then run a full virus scan on your PC or laptop and ensure there is nothing nasty hiding on it.

#2 Once you have done that run the windows disk clean up tool. This will remove any temporary and unwanted files from windows. This can be found under accessories -> system tools.

#3 Remove any programs you do not use. These can use memory even when they are not running and lack of free memory can slow your computer dramatically.

#4 Run a free registry scan. Errors in the registry are responsible for over 90% of the errors you see in windows. corrupt entries, spyware hiding in the registry and entries for old programs that no longer exist all slow windows and eventually stop it even working.
